Type 2 Diabetes and Weight Loss Self-Scheduler

Basic Criteria 

  • Must be 18 to 79 years old
  • Must have Body Mass Index (BMI) of 27 or higher
  • Must have Type 2 Diabetes diagnosed for at least 6 months
  • Must be OK with blood draws, extensive blood sampling procedures during study. 
  • Most recent HbA1c (blood sugar average) must be between 6.5% and 10
  • Must be on stable treatment for diabetes for at least 90 days prior to Screening, consisting of either diet/exercise alone or up to 2 oral diabetes medications 
  • Must be okay with receiving an eye exam, including eye dilation if required

 Answers Must Be NO 

  1. Are you currently pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breastfeeding? 
  1. Have you used any weight loss medications in the past 6 months, including Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Saxenda, Victoza, Qsymia, Contrave, phentermine, orlistat (Xenical/Alli), or any compounded weight loss medications? 
  1. Are you currently taking insulin or any GLP-1 medications (such as Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Victoza, Trulicity, Byetta, or Bydureon)? 
  1. Are you currently taking DPP-4 inhibitor medications (such as Januvia, Tradjenta, Onglyza, or Nesina)? 
  1. Have you gained or lost more than 11 pounds in the past 3 months? 
  1. Are you currently taking more than 2 oral diabetes medications, or has your diabetes medication changed in the past 90 days? 
  1. Have you been told you have or need treatment for diabetic eye disease (diabetic retinopathy or macular edema)? 
  1. Are you currently using or plan to use any drug that could interfere with glucose levels such as systemic corticosteroids? 
  1. Are you currently taking or planning to take medications that typically cause weight gain (such as certain antidepressants like amitriptyline or mirtazapine, antipsychotics like olanzapine or clozapine, or mood stabilizers like valproic acid or lithium)?
