Seth J. Baum

Dr. Seth J. Baum, Chief Medical Officer of Flourish Research, graduated from Columbia College and Columbia Medical School, with advanced fellowship training in cardiology, interventional cardiology, and electrophysiology. He currently serves as a Clinical Affiliate Professor of Cardiology at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, Florida Atlantic University.

He is a Master of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology and holds fellowships with numerous organizations, including the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the American College of Preventive Medicine, and the National Lipid Association.

With two books and over 150 peer-reviewed papers and abstracts, Dr. Baum has been published in leading journals such as Nature, The Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Circulation, The New England Journal of Medicine, and The Lancet.

Since 2000, his primary focus has been on Preventive Cardiology and Clinical Lipidology. In 2005, he was among the first group to become Board Certified by the American Board of Clinical Lipidology. Dr. Baum has held leadership roles at the American Society for Preventive Cardiology (ASPC) since 2010, eventually becoming its President in 2016. He has also been an active member of the Family Heart Foundation since 2015, serving on its Board of Directors and Scientific Advisory Board. In 2024, he was elected Chairman of the Family Heart Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Dr. Baum is deeply passionate about advancing research in cardiovascular and metabolic health, with a focus on improving patient outcomes and fostering innovation in the field. In recognition of his lifelong dedication to Preventive Medicine, he was awarded Cleveland Heart Lab’s “Heart Award” in 2013. In 2019, Mended Hearts honored him with the biennial Dwight Emary Harken Award.

In 2016, Dr. Baum founded Excel Medical Clinical Trials (EMCT), initially focusing on lipid and lipoprotein disorders. In 2021, EMCT was selected as one of two platform sites that founded Flourish Research. Since then, Flourish’s therapeutic focus has expanded to three areas, Cardiovascular/Metabolic/Renal, Neuroscience, and Infectious Disease. Since 2022, Dr. Baum has served as Flourish’s Chief Medical Officer, helping grow the organization into a leading site network that currently spans the United States.

Michael J. Koren

Dr. Michael J. Koren serves as Chief Scientific Officer of Flourish Research. He founded ENCORE which has conducted over 2,500 clinical trials at 8 locations in Florida since 1997.

He received his medical degree cum laude at Harvard Medical School, and he completed residency in internal medicine and chief residency and fellowship in cardiology at New York Hospital/Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center/Cornell Medical Center.

Dr. Koren is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is a fellow and two-time past president of the Academy of Physicians in Clinical Research and past president of the regional chapter of the American Heart Association. As an ACRP Certified Principal Investigator, Dr. Koren has led more than 500 clinical trials on hypercholesterolemia, cardiovascular disease, and heart failure. He participates in the Cholesterol Treatment Trialist Collaboration based in Oxford.

Dr. Koren’s research has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Nature, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Circulation, New England Journal of Medicine, and The Lancet. He has lectured nationally and internationally on topics such as lipid-lowering therapy and preventive cardiology.

Currently, he oversees active protocols developing mRNA vaccines and early-phase research in preventative cardiology.

Mohammad Reza Bolouri, MD, is a board-certified Neurologist with over 20 years of research experience in Alzheimer’s disease. He received his Doctor of Medicine in Neurology/ Psychiatry from Mundial University. His residencies were done at St. Francis Medical Center in the Psychiatry Residency Program and at the Allegheny General Hospital in Neurology Residency.

Douglas Denham

Douglas Scott Denham, DO, CPI, is Chief Medical Director of Flourish – San Antonio, previously Clinical Trials of Texas. Denham is board-certified in Family Medicine and has more than 25 years of experience.

Denham, DO earned his Doctoral degree in Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

Denham, DO has served as Principal Investigator on more than 750 studies in a wide range of therapeutic areas such as Vaccines, Diabetes, Fatty Liver, Hyperlipidemia, Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy, Kidney Disease, Hypertension, Implantable Devices, Insulin Pumps, Clamp Studies and more. His experience includes Phase I-IV protocols, including first-in-human studies.

Barbara A. Hutchinson

Barbara A. Hutchinson, MD is a highly regarded Cardiologist and Medical Director at de-novo site Flourish – Bowie, Maryland, with over three decades of experience in cardiovascular medicine and research. She is also the president of Chesapeake Cardiac Care. Hutchinson earned her MD from the University of Maryland and a PhD in Cardiovascular Pharmacology from Howard University, which uniquely qualify her to address complex cardiovascular conditions. She is board-certified in cardiovascular diseases and Sleep Medicine, with expertise in the critical relationship between sleep disorders and heart health.

Sara D. Collins

Sara D. Collins, MD is an Interventional Cardiologist and the Site/Medical Director at Flourish – Bowie, a De Novo research site in Bowie, Maryland serving the Washington DC region. She earned her medical degree from Meharry Medical College, completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Maryland, and did fellowships in general and Interventional Cardiology at Georgetown and MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Colins, MD has led numerous Cardiovascular studies with over 30 years of clinical research experience focusing on coronary interventions and clinical trials involving diverse populations.

Collins, MD is also a recognized expert in obesity-related cardiovascular conditions and specializes in innovative treatments for Coronary Artery Disease, Heart Failure, and Metabolic Syndrome. Her research has been instrumental in advancing interventions for patients from underserved communities affected by obesity. Her passion for diversity in clinical trials is the driving force of all her work in Cardiovascular research.

Collins, MD co-chairs the Association of Black Cardiologists’ Health and Public Policy Committee working to shape healthcare policies and initiatives that benefit underserved populations. She is dedicated to improving outcomes through innovative research and clinical excellence.

Manish Jain

Manish Jain, MD is a board-certified Rheumatologist in practice for over 9 years. He received his medical degree from Rush Medical College and completed his Rheumatology Fellowship at New York University. His research experience includes Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

He is one of the few doctors on staff at Presence St. Francis Hospital and Swedish Covenant Hospital who specialize in Rheumatology. He also serves as Medical Chair for the Chicago Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, partnering with patients and rheumatologists across the country to raise funds and awareness of Rheumatic Diseases.

Rimsky Denis

Dr. Rimsky Denis is a structural and interventional cardiologist in private practice in Miami, Florida. Dr. Denis is a graduate of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and holds a masters degree in public health with a concentration in health promotion and disease prevention, and a masters degree in business administration with a focus in health sector management and policy. He completed his internal medicine residency at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He went on to complete his cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and structural cardiology fellowships at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Denis founded the Cardiovascular Health Institute Research to advance research in underrepresented populations in clinical trials. His research interest pertains to the assessment of health inequities within cardiovascular disease and structural cardiology. He is an active member of the Association of Black Cardiologist and the American College of Cardiology. Rimsky is a native of Miami, Florida where he currently resides.

Rachna Saralkar

Rachna Saralkar, MD is a double board-certified Investigator at Flourish Research, specializing in psychiatry and clinical informatics.

Prior to joining Flourish Research, Dr. Saralkar served as Medical Product Director at Deliberate AI, where she worked on the development of AI-enabled tools for mental healthcare. She also served as an advisor and fractional chief medical officer to early stage startups working on incorporating AI into their care delivery platforms. Her experience spans traditional psychiatric care delivery – including outpatient, emergency, and virtual settings.

Dr. Saralkar completed her psychiatry residency at Johns Hopkins University and holds a Master’s in Clinical Informatics Management from Stanford University School of Medicine. As a practicing psychiatrist licensed in California and Pennsylvania, she is passionate about bridging the gap between innovative healthcare technologies and clinical research, working to advance treatments that can meaningfully improve patients’ lives.

Cameron Olezene

Cameron Olezene, MD is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as Pain Medicine. He completed his medical school training at Harvard Medical school. He did his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Spaulding Rehabilitation hospital at Harvard Medical School. He completed his fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University of Michigan. He began his career practicing musculoskeletal medicine and interventional pain management. He later transitioned to clinical research with many research interests.

He works as an investigator at Flourish Philadelphia to offer innovative research opportunities to his community.
